Some ideas just call for another round. So, on July 26, 2005, Compadre Records will once again serve up a collection of drinking songs aptly called Brewed in Texas 2. The album is an intoxicating compilation of 100-proof, late night anthems from Texas favorites like Billy Joe Shaver, Charlie Robison, Asleep at the Wheel, Guy Clark, Roger Creager, and Kevin Fowler.
Several Lone Star up-starts were inspired to head into the studio to record new tracks for the compilation. Randy Rogers Band kicks off the collection with a whiskey-drenched cover of Gary Stewart's "She's Actin' Single (I'm Drinkin' Doubles)." Bob Schneider raises some high lonesome hillbilly hell on "Lubricate the Death Machine," while Los Super 7 member Rick Treviño drowns his sorrows with "Another Six Pack Under," a heartbreaking new honky-tonk standard in the most traditional sense. Other artists who contributed previously unreleased tracks include Texas singer-songwriter legend Ray Wylie Hubbard ("The Way of the Fallen Is Hard"), Texas-rock road warriors Honeybrowne ("Julie at the Bar"), The Lost Trailers ("Crossroads"), and MuzikMafia's rising star Chance ("I Came to Drink").
Compadre will implement an innovative promotional plan called "Free Alcohol Download" that will primarily target the college market. Brewed in Texas 2 will be showcased one month prior to release as an exclusive Podcast on the Compadre website. Compadre will market the Podcast via e-banners distributed on participating artist websites, popular e-zines, radio station websites, and retail e-stores.
Brewed in Texas 2 will help you two-step and sing along while crying into your favorite Texas brew. This is a potent cocktail of rowdy Texas music stars singing their favorite drinking songs, so please listen responsibly.
